CLUB NOTES MONDAY 30th Sept 2013   07/10/2013

Under 21 team played Athenry in the North Board Under 21 Final in Tuam Stadium last Sunday morning. We fielded a very young team all year and it is a tribute to them that they progressed to the final, knocking out some well fancied opposition along the way. Sunday was not to be our day and we never really got going. Having said that the score was only 0-2 in favour of Athenry with 20 minutes of the first half gone. But as the game approached half time we conceded 3 goals, 2 of which came from balls we turned over leaving us trailing 3-2 to 0-1 at the break. We started the second half brightly and had 3 points on the board before Athenry got their first score of the half. But unfortunately that was as good as it got. A sending off and injury to four key players did not help our cause and we were always playing catch up. The final score was Athenry 5-9 Killererin 0-5 a score line that does not do justice to our efforts. Athenry are worthy champions and we wish them well in the county final. To our young Killererin team we would like to say well done you gave us some wonderful moments during the year, a year which started way back last December. Scorers for Killererin were Daniel Flaherty 0-2, Adrian Nolan 0-1, Shane Fahy 0-1 and James Boyle 0-1. The Killererin Team for the final was James Keeley, Tomas Coen, Adrian McDonnell, Daniel Treacy, Killian Moore(Capt.),Paul Kemple, Eamon Mannion, Gearoid Smyth, Adrian Nolan, Kevin Murphy, Shane Fahy, James Boyle, Robert Joyce, Daniel Flaherty, Sean Holian, Alan Kelly, Paddy Miskell, Eric Moore Dillon Moggin, Ryan Cooke and Michael Nally. The club would like to thank Mike and Ann Treacy of Pamlube, Barnaderg for their generous sponsorship of a set of Polo Shirts for the team for the final. The club would also like to thank Billy Dunleavy of Harpy's Bar for his generous sponsorship of food for the team after the game.Seniors had a good win over Micheal Breathnach's last Sat on a scoreline of 1-14 to 2-15 to killererin.
